Great Global Investigation of Climate - March IOP
02/15/2012 08:00 MST - The next Great Global Investigation of Climate (GGIC) Intensive Observing Period (IOP) will take place 1–31 March 2012. Students collect and enter temperature and precipitation data in the GLOBE database and investigate how to classify local weather and climate using this atmospheric data. If you participated in the September or December IOPs, you are encouraged to contribute data in March as well. For those who are new to the GGIC, now is the time get involved. 02/13/2012 9:00 MST - Dr. Donna Charlevoix and the GLOBE Science and Education department will host an online webinar to update the community on the SCRC. Learn about the latest highlights, see who is participating and learn how to engage in upcoming programs such as Intensive Observation Periods (IOPs) and the Earth Day video competition.
2/01/2012 08:00 MST - Drs. Shuji Yamashita (right) and Tomoyasu Yoshitomi (left) currently lead the GLOBE Program in Japan. The two scientists are colleagues at Tokyo Gakugei University that houses the Field Studies Institute for Environmental Education (FSIFEE). The GLOBE Japan center is comprised of faculty from FSIFEE’s field of Soil Science, Environmental Education and Fish Biology and the University’s departments of Physics, Physical Geography and Conservation Ecology that conduct research in the methodology of field studies and promote environmental education in schools.
